Contest Information

  1. Seniors (Youth 4-H age 14+), may enter one of the following categories:
    1. Demonstration: 7-20 minutes, shows and tells how to make or do something
    2. Illustrated Talk: 7-20 minutes, tells “how” using visual aids
    3. Prepared Speech with Impromptu Speech: 5-7 minutes, speaker writes and delivers own speech on a single topic or idea. After speech, Senior will deliver impromptu speech with 3 minutes to prepare
    4. Career Communications: Job application, cover letter, resume due at time of registration, see page 32 in Clover Communications for more details
    5. Video Contest: see page 43 in Clover Communications for more details
    6. Promotional Package: see page 47 in Clover Communications for more details
    7. Commercial: up to 3 minutes, speaker develops short promotional message to be performed live
    8. Cowboy Poetry:  Event not available at Montana 4-H Congress or National Congress

 

  1. Juniors (Youth 4-H age 9-13), may enter one of the following categories:
    1. Demonstration: 3-7 minutes, shows and tells how to make or do something
    2. Illustrated Talk: 3-7 minutes, tells “how” using visual aids, such as charts or posters
    3. Prepared Speech: 3-7 minutes, speaker writes and delivers own speech on a single topic or idea.
    4. Impromptu Speech: 2-5 minutes, speaker will draw a piece of paper with a topic and have 3 minutes to prepare a speech.
    5. Career Communications: Job application, cover letter, resume due at time of registration, see page 32 in Clover Communications for more details

    3. Prepared Speech: 1-3 minutes, speaker writes and delivers own speech on a single topic or idea.
    4. Impromptu Speech: 1-3 minutes, speaker will draw a piece of paper with a topic and have 3 minutes to prepare a speech.
